Seaside resorts with beaches and ocean waters are an inherent draw for tourists, making them sought after destinations. The coast has always been a recreational area although earlier it was accessible only for privileged classes. But now beach resort luxuries are easily available for everybody, allowing them to take holidays by the seaside.
American beach resorts developed along New England coastline around late 19th century with the Mid-Atlantic region developing a bit later. Southern seaside resorts also developed in Texas, Florida and greater Miami area creating some of the most fashionable beach resorts.
The popularization of beach resorts in the US happened rapidly as many seaside towns began providing hospitality and entertainment to visitors. With affordable accommodations and entertainment facilities catering to both tourists and locals, beach resorts became a rage especially during the summer months.
With many people being able to afford more time off, second holidays or short breaks are also in vogue. Beach resorts are a recurring attraction drawing huge crowds.
